Caño Island

Located in the beautiful Pacific Ocean, about 30 km off the coast of the Osa Peninsula, Caño Island has been named one of the best diving destinations in Costa Rica. This biological reserve is home to a great variety of tropical fish, whales, and sharks. With fantastic underwater visibility which ranges from 40 to 100ft, it is possible to observe a large number of marine species during most of the year. The sites near the island present a topography of volcanic origin, which is home to the most diverse reefs in the country. You will depart from Marino Ballena National Park early in the morning and navigate along the South Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The trip to the island takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, depending on the weather and ocean conditions. Once you arrive at your destination, you will have the opportunity to dive/snorkel at two different sites. If you are interested in diving at Caño Island and are not certified, please enquire about the "Discover Scuba Diving" option.
